The Way to Fame
When I was 23 I moved from Aruba to the Netherlands. I started studying Jazz and Musical at the Amsterdam College for Art. To gain more experience and to share my talents with a bigger audience I participated in the Dutch television show ‘The Way to Fame’.
Dozens of candidates participated in the show. Eventually, I got the role of Tyrone. We traveled and performed the musical ‘Fame’ throughout the country. During that period, I got many offers, was signed by a modeling agency. My career was truly on the rise!
After seven years I got a chance to live in Paris while working as a model, an opportunity I seized with both hands. That was an inspiring time. I knew no one there, did not speak French and had to start building a new life and career. I met many people, learned the language and conquered my place in the French models industry. Shortly after, I was offered a contract by a modeling agency in New York. Currently, I partly live in New York. I spend a few months a year there.
At the beginning of 2018, I started making videos. The first video that I made immediately went viral in the Netherlands, Curaçao and Aruba. The video was in Papiamento. Super exciting! Meanwhile, I’ve been building a decent fan base that is constantly growing. I am also going to start producing my videos in English. I want to soar; the world is at my feet, and I’m enjoying it so much!
My videos are about everyday things. I record everything from my daily experiences to things that randomly come to mind. When I have logged the video, I edit the film with effects and music and post it online. I make new content every week. In Paris, I have my own marketing team. They give me advice on many different things. There is a lot more to it than just making a video. I now have an actual content calendar, so I already know what I will post in a few months.
Positivity in life
It was very exciting when this all started. The whole world suddenly sees you and everyone has an opinion. But I’ve learned to let that go. What gave me a lot of strength is that the first video I made went viral. That was crazy!
There are certain things that I keep to myself that I don’t want to share with a bigger audience. That gives me a certain mental calmness. I know what I want to communicate through my channel: Positivity in life, how I deal with people, inclusiveness. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you are from, dark, white, gay or straight. We are all one. I always speak in terms of ‘we’. This has a positive influence on others. I avoid talking about whom I share my bed with or about politics. I can talk about it but only to a certain extent. Also, I will never tell people what to do because that is not my way of doing things. I respect other people’s values and opinions. I do also expect that the other way around.
